Google sales increase on more advertising

Google Q2 sales exceeded estimates as the company sold more advertising alongside Web-search results. Revenue, excluding sales passed on to partners, was USD 12.7bn that topped the average projection of analysts for USD 12.3bn. Net income, including from Motorola, which is being sold to Lenovo, rose to USD 3.42bn or USD 4.99 a share from USD 3.23bn or USD 4.77 a year earlier. Q2 EPS excluding certain items was USD 6.08 a share compared with an estimate for USD 6.24. Google shares climbed as much as 3% in extended trading.
