The countdown is on: In 16 days’ time, the ABB FIA Formula E Championship will start its fifth season. Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler is entering the series with drivers Daniel Abt – who is celebrating his 26th birthday today  – and Lucas di Grassi. Their racing car, the all-electric Audi e-tron FE05, has already embarked on its journey around the world. Over the next few months, this journey will take it across five continents, through eleven countries and a total of more than 70,000 kilometers.

The first stop of the Formula E will be Ad Diriyah on the outskirts of Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh, where the mechanics will receive their two Audi e-tron FE05 cars for the season opener. On December 15, at 3 pm  local time, the starting lights will switch to green again for the first time. The new season brings several alterations: The rules have changed fundamentally and, on top of this, the electric cars start the race with completely new features.

After the first race in Saudi Arabia, the Formula-E-tour will take the teams to Marrakesh, Santiago de Chile, Mexico City, Hong Kong and the Chinese tourist resort Sanya. Only before the Formula E's return to Europe in April, the racecars will be sent back to the team. Until then, they will be hauled directly from one race track to the other. Thanks to the combined transportation of all cars and materials as well as the selection of appropriate routes and means of transportation, emissions  will be kept at a minimum. Essentially, Formula E pursues the aim of reducing its emissions gradually and compensating them in the long run.

In the second half of the season, races in Rome, Paris, Monaco, Berlin and Bern will take the team and its technology across Europe. The more than 70,000-kilometer-world tour will culminate in the season’s finale in New York in mid-July of 2019.
