LGT Formula E talk: "Motorsport is pure emotion"

Professor Peter Gutzmer is convinced that mobility will change in the future, and that electrically-powered driving will become significantly more prevalent. In an interview with LGT at the ePrix in Paris, the Deputy CEO and Chief Technology Officer of Schaeffler Group explains how the developments in the Formula E are applied to electric cars that are used on the road. Together with his team and partners, Peter Gutzmer develops the powertrains for the Formula E racing car. Through their collaboration, in discussions and during the races themselves, they learn a lot that can later be used for cars that are driven off the track. "We know that e-mobility will play an important role in the future. That’s why we want to be active in a segment such as Formula E. Here we really feel the emotions that motorsport evokes, we can test the limits of this new technology and develop a competitive electric powertrain." Whether or not he is successful and the ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport team is faster than all the rest using his product is something he experiences first hand at every race.

In addition to Formula E talk, the video also provides exciting insights into the racing action at the Paris ePrix. Although the ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport team had a “day to forget” in Paris, Peter Gutzmer is optimistic about the next races on 10 and 11 June in Berlin: "That’s motorsport, it happens. I think because we were so unlucky in Paris, something like that can’t and won’t happen again. We’re coming to Berlin with renewed motivation!"
